WHAT’S IN A NAME?
When we began in 2001 there had been 302 previous attempts to establish a new brewery in Victoria. Buckleys beer was named after William Buckley, the famous escaped convict who lived with the Wathaurung Tribe in the Bellarine Peninsula of Port Phillip Bay from 1803 to 1835 (without a beer!). His survival led to the ironic expression “You’ve got Buckley’s chance” and was one of the earliest examples of reconciliation in Australia. Once you’ve tried our traditionally brewed, non-filtered, full-flavoured ales and lagers it will be . . .
“Buckleys, or none!”

Buckleys would love you to add here your reviews of our beers or stories of great happenings with Buckleys beer – go for it!
